The Instrument Renewal System is a high-tech reconidition system that will permanently remove all the rust and strains from the surface of an instrument. How It Works

There are peeks and valleys on the surface of an instrument. Contaminants and minerals, ranging from blood to saline, hide in these valleys making the instrument dull.  These contaminants also react to the metal properties by the heating process in the auto-clay that starts producing staining and rusting.

DK’s system removes the top layer (or one-ten-thousandth of an inch) off the surface of an instruments were all the contaminants are. By removing the peeks there will be no more valleys for contaminates to hide, allowing a protective layer of Chromium Oxidation to form.

What is Chromuim Oxidation

Chromium Oxidation is a natural protective layer that attaches to the surface of an instrument.  It will prohibit contaminates and other by-products from adhering to an instrument.

The results will be phenomenal.  By removing the problem from the surface of an instrument, staining or rusting will not occur, allowing the instruments to function as if new. DK can double the life of any instrument, and we that our work a 2-year warranty.

Having scissors in the best working condition is beneficial, as I need not tell you. In the case of surgeries, a well taken care of instrument plays a crucial role in the patient outcome and the surgeon satisfaction. It also benefits the pocket book; there are fewer sharpenings when done right the first time, and there is a less frequent need to buy new.

The majority of scissors—in hospitals, in salons, in a domestic kitchen—are not being sharpened or repaired correctly. Thus, they do not perform to the manufacture’s specifications.

A pair of shears sharpened by DK Industries will maintain the optimal amount of material on the blade, not weakening or removing necessarily material; will have a blade with a five-degree edge, meaning it will function to its  potential and will not dull as quickly as other instruments; will have a smooth edge; and will be even along the length of blade.

Unnecessary material removed (top arrow) and blade rounded (bottom arrow) material has been removed unnecessarily. There is no need to remove metal near the pivot point. Many other repair companies use a deburing wheel to speed up the refurbishing process resulting in a faster but improper sharpening. One improper sharpening can remove the same amount of material as 10 correct sharpening. The deburing wheel also rounds the edge opposite the cutting edge, which reduces performance.

This is an example of a rounded distal end. The tip of the instrument was reground at the wrong angle. This shear will not perform properly.

This blade is missing matieral, as you can see by it’s thinness. An excessive amount of the blade was removed during the sharpening process. Correct sharpening should only remove 2 mils (0.002”) of material. The life of scissors with an insert is determined by how much of the insert remains after sharpening. Once the insert material is completely removed, the scissors must be replaced.
